About
About the name? It’s meant to be very tongue in cheek. Promise.
To say that I can relate to how and why Mark Armstrong founded longreads would be a bit of an understatement. Though I don’t (and likely won’t ever) own an iphone, I’ve long been a fan of longform journalism, thoughtful blog posts and *gasp*, books! As a fellow New Yorker, and being quite eco-unfriendly, I’d print my stories out on the work printer and lug them around with me on the subway. Sometimes I still do. I love the kindle app on my android, but I don’t own a kindle or ipad, yet.
My aim is to help you find new and interesting written content on the web. To that end, I aggregate news articles, essays, long form journalism, non-fiction storytelling, blog posts and a few books around deeply similar themes and topics because stories progress and evolve over time. I call it companion content. Or, ‘conversations.’
Speaking of which, I really enjoy actual conversation and informed debate. I’d love to hear from you, whether you have a comment, or a piece to contribute to a topic – admin (at) everythingworthknowing (dot) com.
Eventually I’d like to offer personalized recommendations, relevant to the topics you’re already interested in, and I have an idea on how to make that happen, but that’s a ways off yet. If you’re a programmer or an angel investor, I’d love to chat. Until then, do know that I’ve read every piece that I recommend here.
I very much appreciate what sites like longreads, longform and givemesomethingtoread do. I hope the feeling is mutual.
Want to help? You can contribute, or you can donate. Either is fine by me!
This is an incredibly interesting world we live in. A lot of excellent people have spent considerable time and effort writing about it. Let’s support them.
